They say that time is officially speeding up. Not just in our heads, where the sum effect of all the inputs we get moment by moment can cause us to feel that we are constantly running to stand still. But ACTUALLY, in some quantum or meta physical sense.
I don't know about that, I'm not a scientist. And as a coach, my view of course is that it's not a problem with TIME so much as a question of how we choose to USE our time.
Still, in the few short weeks that the Happiness Adventure has taken a break in the journey, it seems that many of us use a lack of time as a reason not to do the things that we know will make us happier. A reason, not an excuse. As I've been speaking to people it's really clear that when you focus on activities that change your habits for the better, you get huge benefits. Many of you have said how much you have enjoyed the challenges of the first phases of the Adventure. And some of you have said that "if only" there was more time, you'd get on even better. You want to get busy being happy. It just seems that there are so many things to clear first...
It's my mission to help you build sustainable habits of happiness, in ways that are easy to integrate. So that's why the Happiness Adventure is taking a new route to that destination starting next week.
You tell me that you want 2010 to be the year that makes a difference to your happiness, so here's where we are heading for this next phase of our Advenure together. Over the next 12 weeks I will be sharing with you the 12 most powerful happiness questions I know. All of these questions have created light bulb moments of awareness for my coaching clients. They are simple questions, although the answers may not always be simple!
All you have to do is find a few moments during each week to ask yourself the question and record your responses in some way. I suggest that you carry around a notebook or journal to do that. You don't have to generate solutions. Simply asking yourself these questions will allow your unconscious mind to begin the search for solutions. You may find yourself making changes as you go and that's great, but the purpose is simply to ASK and ANSWER them for yourself.
At the end of the 12 weeks you will have amassed all that you need to begin to decide what new habits you want to build for 2010. And at that point in our Adventure I'll be introducing you to new tools to do that.
And here's a special offer to all current Happiness Adventurers, so read this bit carefully...
Since creating more happiness depends on building new habits I want to encourage as many people as possible to make this commitment to finding the small investment of time to ponder these powerful questions. So I'm offering 12 people the opportunity of a complimentary personal coaching sessionwith me during January to help them tailor their responses to their happiness plan for the year. All you have to do is DO the happy groundwork over the next 12 weeks. As we draw nearer to 2010 I'll let you know how to apply for this opportunity.
In the meantime, start by pondering this powerful question...
If being happy was your biggest priority, what would be keeping you busy this week?
Be happy now
