Be inspired today

Did you have fun last week? Lots of you did, I know, and some people reported that even though they had chosen things to do that were enjoyable, they felt guilty doing them at the expense of other pursuits. Interesting, huh? Thirty minutes out of your day to have fun isn’t going to have a negative effect on anything so why not send that guilt on a one way trip out of your life?

This week our happiness habit is to Be Inspired. And I’m going to be appearing in your inbox daily for the next seven days with an inspirational quote, poem or reflection.

I also invite you to choose your own resource this week. Poetry in general is great for stimulating the brain cells and getting you to think in different grooves. Maybe you’ll choose instead to seek out specific  images, photos or paintings that inspire you. Or simply read a little each day from a genre you wouldn’t normally go for. You could also revisit a favourite writer who has inspired you in the distant past and look for new insights that fit with your life now. The idea is to build a habit of 30 minutes each day visiting a different place or space in your mind’s eye. Remember that happiness and creativity are strongly  linked and feed off each other.

If you decide to simply go with my daily offering, then spend five or ten minutes reflecting on its meaning for you. What new ideas result from this new perspective? What will you do differently in this day that will build on your current level of happiness?

Today’s inspirational poem is from e.e.cummings. It’s one of my very favourites. Enjoy!
